What is Many Meals? Many Meals is a program designed to serve a hot,
generous and nutritious meal to people who are homeless, at risk, or having a hard time providing for themselves and their families.
Who is sponsoring Many Meals? The SPIRIT of Santa Paula, a 501C3,
supported by five local business people. The purpose of this organization is to sponsor the National Day of Prayer and other good things for the community. We are an agency of Food Share and completed the SafeServ Food
Certification.
History: Many Meals began on January 14, 2009 at Iglesias Dios 7 at 208 S. Mill in Santa Paula when 47 people came to dinner. The peak number of
meals served at that location was 434.
It began as a result of a growing need for families to maintain themselves. The best cure for homelessness is prevention. We estimate that Many Meals is
saving up to $80 a month which translates to two tanks of gas or some
utilities. SPIRIT is a link between many food service providers in the County
and working toward sustaining food supplies, including a new program called
“Garden Share”.
Many Meals in Camarillo was launched on July 6, 2009 at St. Magdalene’s
Church.
On July 8, 2009. Many Meals moved to a larger facility at the Presbyterian
Church, 121 Davis in Santa Paula. The program works because many people are involved. The idea is for a family to prepare a meal for themselves and
one for Many Meals.
